Here’s another clip (2 minutes) from Shamed about perfectionism vs. high standards. When kids (I think we can say all of us here) feel like perfection is expected, they’re more likely to compartmentalize and deny misbehaviors. However, if high standards are expected, but a child knows mistakes are okay and there’s a way back after goofing up, he’s much more likely to talk. We need to be realistic about our expectations and let young people know it is safe to talk about pornography.
